Chiangmai and the Tour of the Ancient KIngdom
Chiangmai, the colloquel name of Lanna though older than seven centuries the meaning is still "a new city". Located 320 MSL on average but it hold the highest ground of the country 2,565 meters above sea level. The province have been a melting pot of various tribes since 240 years ago when Burmese let go its colony. Siam kingdom, then, supported the heir of Lanna royal family restoring the city. Since no one left after the abandonment, the new ruler used the policy of "put veggie to the basket, put the war slave to the town". The Shan from northern area, Laotien from Lanchang the colony on the east and many others ethnicity from Siam kingdom has made Chiangmai the melting pot ever since.
